Yah, going with the crowd, have been a very big issue to me. As much as I try to stay away from them, it seems that its affecting everybody around me, best friends, family, brothers, and the list continues. So what are the crowd doing these days you may ask? the typical, kandooorah khatim, headsets in the ears 24/7, Bluetooth, and most important the Land Cruiser / Nissan craze.
ok, lets talk about them 1 by 1:
the Khatim:
OK guys, it might be the trend these days, il moo'6ah. But you guys are taking this moo'6ah to the next level. I see my brother and his kandoorah is like a cardboard, and when he walks, is that a train passing by? Id have to admit, I myself have made a Khatim once, but now am thinking of Ebaying it.
Headsets:
it surely became an accessory, not only girls can now look better by wearing accessories, guys do. with their Nokia headsets attached to their ears, damn how manly it makes them look like (NOT).
Bluetooth:
when did man become less manly? when bluetooth came to existance. Even though the good old days of shouting your number to a girl or droping a peice of paper was still considered retarted. Id have to say, this is worst. Now a combinition of both a Headset in the ears and a bluetooth enabled device, you can send your number to any girl pretending your talking through that headset. Stealthy aint it? give up, be Men !
the Land Cruiser/Nissan Craze:
the most interesting of them all. Now a person can say he is a beduin by driving one of these cars. misguided identity? since when beduins drove a 2006 Land Cruiser ? infact since when beduins had cars? my friends, you are Beduin wannabes with a lack of identity. Beduins were men, and respectable. Do you call yourself a beduin by flirting and sleeping with girls in the backseat of your Land Crusier? what a disgrace.
Eventhough the crowd have been a disgrace to our local community. They do have some potential in changing. Though for now, their fun to watch, please do the following for educational purposes, and I repeat EDUCATIONAL purposes: go to the malls and just point out those typical locals with your friends. and have a laugh.
More to come...

LOL at the Khatim. Great blog - hope to see more posts on it soon!
It's great to get a local guy's perspective and social commentary about the ins and outs of life and trends in the UAE.
niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Ohh thank god some1 brought up these issues, so it's not only us who laugh about those typical LOCHALS. Man it's getting crazy, I mean once I pass by some lochal wearing the kandora u mean, I swear I cnt tell if he's running or walking, thin or fat coz simply, it hides everything and it looks like a flexible sheet of polished metal!
Ohh yeah and talk about bluetooth and flirtingg, shame..shame..shame!
But I guess u forgot one BIG issue, the YOOOLAH! Whats with it? All what I know is that Men used to YOOL in weddings, national celebrations, for sheikh's BAS, and for a sudden, every1's like yooling around pretending like they'r bedouins with the accent and shit. Ohh yeah and their nissans and Lcruisers! ugghh It just bugs..
Btw, haven't u noticed the girls around with their tripple heads? I guess I should post sumthng about them coz there's so much to saaay!
I can talk for hours about it, but I guess it's our fate, so we have to live with that.
Peace!

Absolutely right, weird locals walah but I disagree with the Nissan and land cruiser part lol.
why fragile? do you drive a nissan or a landcruiser? haha.
my comment isnt meant to be a burrrrrrrrrn.
loooool..
bro this is so true its as if ur readin my mind.. about the khatim kandora's.. btw i just knew it is called that. i personally call them "6erbal". or u know the material they use to do tents. i hate it.
But i think u should have mentioned one of the most important issues related to fashion trends. Non-locals wearing our local cloths. as in iraqy female wearing shaila and 3abaya and acting like a local girl. o god that buggs! and vise versa to non-local males wearing kanadeeer..
Another very important issue is something that i go through every single day. the so not classy way of flirting. following a girl around the streets and in between neighborhoods.. i swear it happened to me today and yesterday. it such a scary thing and certainly a TURN-OFF..
okai my fingers will stop typing here and let you continue raising more important issues related to our community..
:)

he drives something that starts with "L" and ends with "and Cruiser" or was it a "Nissan Patrol" ? ... damnit I cannot difrentiate anymore, kilhom nafs il 6agah :p
:p
ok i drive one of those but i dont act like those stupid typical ppl. it is just a car to me, okay to be honest its more than that it is my closet, desert bike, hanging around car, family.... lol
in a way iam a crazy driver but i do not chase girls !!!!!
3ade iam not like my friend sultan who show off his car (dont argue or i will start telling stuff lol)
I always wonder how they can stand wearing their Kandoora and Ghutra so hard, they can't even turn their head. Try and stand right behind a guy to the side and call his name and you will see how his whole body turns just so he can look at you, sometimes they would hold their ghutra too so it wouldn't fall. Hilarious, why do it?
And the Nissan talk, wallah elwa7ed ma 3eraf mno yerdee. Thanks god I'm not a guy. If they drive a Nissan they're crazy and if they drive Porsche they are… '7agageen. (Biz, know what I'm talking about?)
usually its those new people to Ghutra and 3igaal who turn their whole bodies. Once they get used to it they act normal :)
